Your laptop is using what they call switchable graphics, meaning that it uses the Intel graphics for normal use and should automatically to the Nvidia when playing a game or something that requires the extra graphics power. It also requires both the Intel and Nvidia drivers to be installed to work properly. Nvidia calls it Optimus Technology.

As far as the drivers go you might be able to use this,

Notebook Drivers

to get an updated driver if Dell doesn't have one. If that doesn't work then you're stuck using whatever Dell has available, as the reference Nvidia drivers will not install on it due to the switchable graphics.
