nVidia 7900 GT - SLI'd?

Hi everyone,

I have been reading about problems that people have been having with the nVidia 7900 GT card. The question that I have is that I would like to upgrade to windows 7 and use my two 7900 GT cards (SLI'd). Judging by other threads this maybe a problem

I have two cards that have different GPU speeds, both overclocked by the manufacture, one is at 500 mhz (overclocked) and the other is at 550 mhz (super -overclocked). My question is, do you have to over clock them regardless of the their GPU speeds inorder to get them to work? I notice that some of the non-overclocked cards that people were having problems with are 450 mhz and I was wondering if the low speed is the problem? Would I have to overclock mine by a token 5 mhz to work in Windows 7?

I don't want to update my system at this time and would like to use the hardware that I have.

Any thoughts on this?

SLI is a hybrid setup and works best with cards of identical specs. The more the cards vary in specs the greater the chance of problems. The card in the primary slot dictates how the other card will be run (clocking and amount of ram) and this is controled by the driver automaticly. So if you experience problems try switching the cards around in the primary slot as this will determine if the secondary card gets up clocked or down clocked.

Aslong as they're both 7900GT with the same amount of memory on both, you should be able to run it fine even though both the clock speeds are different. If the clocks are different, then the faster card will just downlock itself to the same clock speeds as the slower card.
