I am getting this alot lately, the screen goes black for a second, then the following message appears:
"NVidia display driver stopped responding and has recovered", randomly, whenever i play games, open a web browser, etc...
I tried going back to old whql drivers for my gtx 570 - 314.22, but same problem happens with them, also with the latest drivers...
any idea what can cause this?

I was having this same problem with the 320.XX drivers. When I went back to 314.22 it stopped. I also removed that Nvidia Experience that is supposed to max out the settings for your games. It has not happened to me since.

Have you cleaned out your case recently? Maybe there is dust and such in it. I clean mine about every 6 weeks. Maybe if you re seat your VC it will help?

Hey softgator. As per your system specs, you are using..2X4GB RAM. Try to run the PC with just one stick of RAM and test the games (do the same with other stick as well, just to check). If you find that your PC is running fine with one stick, run memtest+ overnite to check for errors on memory. Also, you mentioned that the temps are fine, so we can rule out the possibility of overheating.
