Solved OC Help

OK, I've tried with stock settings and bios and it was fine. But I only ran it for a few mins. Only got to test 5 in prime before I stopped it.

Start it and let it go for an hour and see what happens otherwise you can not really call it a real stress test. And will not have any weight anywhere as evidence of a Mobo issue.

So prime this time just froze on me. It dident shut down my computer. I'm at 1.488v 4.y and running Intel maximum. Considering I was able to go through 13 prime tests on my last mono with the same speed and voltage, I think its this board.

Intel very high test got to 1 test done. hen I stopped it. I tried maximum and it never even got through 1 test and froze. 4.6 at 1.476v

there is something wrong do you have any power states disabled ?

I disabled everything.

I've tried with c6 enabled and disabled. Dosent make a difference.

I'm flashing and older bios version now.....

I personally think the board is messed up. i think i see a long very angry talk with asus tomorrow

There it is you are supposed to leave those on the only state that could be disabled is C&Q cool and quiet and it doesn't need to be either you can leave all the c -states on and carry on with a OC

anyway there is your issue leave the power states on take off turbo leave on llc and adjust to 1.476 you should see a big drop in temps

Nope. Fails at Intel. I'll try bone stock. Again. Otherwise I think its the board. I'm calling Asus and raising hell tomoroow. This is my 5th freaking board from them. BS now

Wait, You have had the same issue with 5 Mobo's? Makes if FAR less likely to be a Mobo issue in that case.

Sounds like incorrect setting in that case.

If my 8350 ran 4.8 at that voltage im sure your should be able to use lower at that speed but that voltage 1.476 is the sweet spot for 4.7 you might be able to lower it more but if you are cool with those volts then go right ahead

No first board with this issue. OK prime is running fine with stock settings.

Heres what i change

Air over clock tuner = manual
CPU ratio - 23
Turbo core disable
CPU/nb freq- 2200mhz
Ht link 2400mhz
CPU load line calibration - enabled
CPU offset voltage - .043750
Cool and quiet - disabled
C1e - disabled
Svm- disabled
Core c6 state - disabled
APM master mode - auto
HPC - disabled.

Ok this guy is overclocking with your board look at what he is doing and compare your settings maybe you will see something you are doing wrong

Huh.... I set CPU/nb to 2000mhz instead of the stock 2200mhz and no crash.... Running prime now fine at 4.6 1.476v. Let me try and enable LLC for CPU/NB and raise it to 2200mhz...

And crash on 2200mhz... IMA increase voltage a tad....

SUCESS! I had to up the voltage a tad. Its stable now. But its late so I will have to fully test tomorrow.

I never had to mess with CPU/nb voltage before. That's why I never thought it would be it. Owell. That also explains why I couldent boot past 5.2ghz no matter the voltage I guess.....

Should CPU/nb llc be enabled?


EDIT: and it shut off....

EDIT: I set the CPU/nb to 1.2v and it no longer freezes immediately, but i dont think its stable either.

OK so its not shutting off or freezing as soon as I start prime, however now it shuts off after a few mins of prime. No errors, and no lockups. Just shuts PC off. Do you think this is the thermal protection? On my last board running prime, the CPU went above 65c and no shutdown.

Is there something in bios that I can shut off for this just to stress test?

I'm going to try and disable spread spectrums and enable HPC mode and give that a try.

Maybe your CPU had degraded as it has had loads of volts chucked through it and it is no longer capable of sustaining a stable oc at 4.6GHz.

You may have to admit defeat and just run a lower daily oc.

@NooberGoober Spread spectrum is supposed to be always off you have no devices that would interfere with the electric signals on the pc so it's pointless to have it on

Well if you feel comfortable go ahead I mean in reality none of those programs will run your pc that hard anyway but when you run premier it might pose a issue since it taxes the cpu and ram gpu
