Odd WEI Results, or is it just me?

Was wondering.

Heard alot of people with 8 series cards reporting WEI scores for graphics around 6.x. Any reason my 640MB 8800GTS appears to be stuck at 5.9 no matter how far I try and push it clock-wise or no matter which driver version I try? I understand WEI doesn't really mean much but its more for bragging rights

Any ideas?

fwiw, in the beta my HD got 6.0. in 7100 it gets 5.9.. so I wouldn't trust WEI too much
I've noticed my CPU score does go up when I overclock (went up .2 points going from 2.6 to 3.3)

I the bet GPU for games might not be only based on performance.. it's probably also based on feature set. I have the same card in my old computer.. but i forget what my WEI score was... Maybe Pixel shader 2 gets you .1 points, PS 3 gets you .2, PS4 gets .4, etc. for instance, and then the actual performance (calculations / second) is the "remainder" points

So perhaps all the overclocking you are doing is not enough to overcome a significant amount?

(I wish microsoft would disclose how it calculates WEI score)

After fresh install of RC build....

My Gaming graphics dropped from 6.9 to 6.7, AERO performance dropped from 7.9 to 6.7!!???

However, my HD performance rose from 6.0 to 6.1.

Dunno if its the drivers? Using the new BETA 185.81's :huh:

I'll have to rerun the scores with the newer drivers. But what's killing me is my 7900GTX scored 5.9 but my SLI enabled GTX 280's? ...6.0. Huh?

Still, I'm sure their still tweaking those WEI scores as I remember the pre-beta being wacky!

from the txt file its seems you have only the score using the Ms original driver...
can you try the and see if the nvidia drivers where installed...
and if you do have it installed....
can rerun the WEI assessment?

They are F'd up. Goes to show by the scores you have there. They should sack it because obviously they are not very accurate.

4.8 that is crazy, my old 9500gs scored 5.1. I thought I was hard done by with 5.7 for a 9600gt. Yet my Q6700 scores 7.2 and single channel 800mhz ram scores 7.2 also. They really must do away with them.

yeah i reckon, this rating system is rubbish, put it in when its ratings are more accurate, giving these false ratings is complete BS, bet a few ppl that havent the faintest clue about computers think there's are super-machines because of the ratings XD

Well, they are designed to reflect future hardware but it's difficult to determine how that will go. I now get 6.5 on the graphics score with the latest Win7 beta drivers from nVidia so at least it's an improvement. Not as high as I would like to see, heheh. But that's mostly because the score only takes into account the primary card so SLI is not taken into account. Oh well.

Now if I can just figure out the hard drive score, it's 5.9 for the 300GB 10k raptor and a 1TB 7200 drive. Oh well, I know going raid would make a difference (or using SSD) but that's too much for a hobby gaming machine... at least for me.
