Office 2007 Address Book

Ugh -- so frustrated here, but I know you all can help!!
In an attempt to clean up my multiple .pst files, I somehow removed my address book too.

I went back to my backup and restore the files, but for the life of me I cannot get the address book back.

Help please....thanks

thanks for the link...tried this like 5x last night, no luck...my address book IS listed

and if I am supposed to be seeing a "contacts" folder in my folder list I do not have one

I spent no kidding 4hrs last night trying to figure this out and am still unsuccessful

so frustrating

I presume you are using Outlook! If you have deleted the pst files, a bit obvious but have you looked in your recycle folder?

Yes...it all started when I was trying to delete old pst files...I recovered all my files from my back up..problem is I cant get the address book to come up... Le something isn't configured correctly

BTW Your profile shows you as being in the USA but if that is the case you seem to be working on this in the middle of the night! If you are not in the US you need to edit your time zone! Can do that later when this Outlook problem is solved

Is the actual Address Book missing or have you only lost your contacts. If the actual Address Book is missing you may have to reinstall Office.

well I'm not sure... I have so many .pst files (isn't that were the contacts are saved for the address book)?

I was just trying to have ONE .pst file for my account (and I have a 2nd outlook account for my hubby with a diff email address)...so I just wanted one .pst file for each of us...

his account is fine and mine is shot... seems that I cannot get the address book to recognize my contacts

At least you still have the Address Book there. Now you need to be able to import your Contacts.

Things seem to be getting confusing here so perhaps a screenshot of the Outlook Window might be helpful. I thought Office 2007 stopped supporting "Address Book" .
Here's how to post a screenshot on the Forum. make sure it shows all the Window.

thanks, but I ended up re-creating the address book...I spent at least 4 hours trying to resolve this, took me only 30 mins to recreate the book!!

I would like to know how to ensure I don't lose my contacts again and if there is a way to add email address to my address book from emails I receive

Your contacts are stored in your default .pst file normally. With multiple pst files you may have gotten confused as to which one was storing the contact info??

I just performed a major reorganization on my .pst files. What I did was create my new .pst in the location I wanted. I then made it my default default and closed and imported my old default .pst. I then proceeded to create new pst for archives and moved files where needed. Once everything was complete and I verified all my contacts and calendars I deleted the old pst files.

thanks for the input...but I have no clue what you are talking about...where my current .pst file is located is where I want it to stay...
