Solved Office 2013 change 64 bit to 32 bit

Hello all: I purchased the MS Office 2013 Professional Plus using the Home Use Program and installed it with no problem. BUT I installed the 64 bit version on my Windows 7 Home computer(64 bit) and what I have been reading is that I should have installed the 32 bit version. Is there an 'EASY' way to convert the 64 bit version to a 32 bit version? One of the reasons I want to change is because the Service Pack 1 will not install on the 64 bit version even though I went to the Microsoft Download Center and selected the 64 bit version of the SP1 to download. Any help? Thanks to all who answer.

Internally 32 bit and 64 bit applications are very different and there is no way to convert one to the other. You would have to uninstall the 64 bit version and than install the 32 bit version.

LMiller7: Thanks for the reply. I took a chance and uninstalled the 64 bit and installed the 32 bit version, it went smooth, no problems(YET-knock on wood). I have Office 2013 up and running fine although I mostly use Open Office. Only problem I now seem to have is that I can not get the Service Pack 1 to load and run. Guess I will just wait until 'Patch Tuesday' and see if the routine update will catch the Service Pack, or wear myself out Googling to see if I can find an answer. I get the notice: "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system." Thanks again.

I also use Office 2013 32 bit version & as far as I know updates are installed automatically in the background & you do not get any notification that they are available or that they have been done.
If you open one of the Office programs & select File & then select Account you can then see if you have Automatic Updates activated, if so then hopefully updates will be installed automatically.

Ranger4: Thanks for the reply. Here is what I have found out about the updating:
-You are right about the automatic updating-Microsoft has a thing called ONE CLICK OPEN which does not allow you to manually update the program. You can turn it off but it does not help when you download the update and try to install it. I think you have to wait until 'PATCH Tuesday' and see if Microsoft catches and installs the update.
-I did some research on trying to find a work around but i have had no luck so far.
-It is just aggravating that I can not install the Service Pack at my request BUT have to wait until MS puts out the update to be installed at their pleasure.

leppy99: Just as a matter of interest I happen to check my Programs & Features in Control Panel & I see my Office 2013 was installed on 16th Jan 2014. However, I actually installed it on 29th July 2013, so the current one must have been completely updated in Jan this year. So perhaps that might be a way of keeping an eye on major updates.

LMiller7/Ranger4: Thank you for the help/suggestions/advice, etc. I have resolved the problem, with help from Microsoft Support Tech people(if you can believe that-HELP FROM MICROSOFT!!) I contacted MS Support and the tech sent me an ISO file with the MSI version of Office 2013 Professional Plus on it. The MSI version loads like any other EXE file but for Office 2013 it does not load the "Click to Run" feature and also lets you install which parts of Office 2013 you want(the Click to Run version loads ALL of the features of Office 2013) which is nice 'cause there are some features I will never use. After I copied the ISO file to a disk using ImgBurn, uninstalled the Click to Run Office 2013, and then ran the setup on the disk. It loaded with no problem; I then ran the Service Pack 1 and it loaded without a problem. Now to update Office 2013 I just have to go to Windows Update and it will find any updates I need for it. Microsoft Level 2 Support called me and told me that they have been getting notices of the same problem and they are working on a solution, I think that "PATCH TUESDAY" will update the people who have the Click to Run version BUT I'll have to wait and see.
