Solved Office 365 Deactivates on its own?!

Office 365 was installed 12/2015.

This morning a yellow banner appeared across the top of Outlook stating that Outlook was deactivated--click to activate.

I had to fish around for the product key, enter same locally + credentials, then do again on a website and finally OL was activated.

I called MS support for a reason why suddenly deactivating 4 months after initial activation. No local log to explain why. No (good/specific) reason and no proactive action to avoid this mess going forward. Huge help.

Given the preceding, there's no reason not to expect this problem to randomly again occur and disrupt work.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

There have been some weird things happening with Windows updates lately, so it's possible this could be a cause.

You could try a Repair of Office, to do that open Control Panel, select Programs & Features, scroll down to Microsoft Office, Right Click on it & select Change & this should open 2 repairs options to try.

Also make sure Office is up to date. To do that, open any Office program & select File, select Account from the menu, then click on Office Updates & select Update Now. When that starts you can close the program & the updates will continue with a small panel showing you progress.

Otherwise just wait & see if the problem reappears.

I updated as instructed from within 365. I then checked updates and (oddly) even though I have the updater set to 'download/I'll say when to install', there hadn't been a notification icon of pending installs. The updater icon is set to show icon and notification. Result...I installed ~38 updates. I performed both the quick and long web repairs.

All of this said, in retrospect, I think that my installing 365 on my new machine several days ago (just before her problem) might have had more to do with her deactivation in some buggy way.

Wait and see--
