On rads, it is not how many CFM a fan puts out, it's how much pressure it builds up. It takes pressure to push the air through the rad. A lower CFM fan with higher static pressure will do better. I know on OCN one of the more popular fans there is the Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15, they spin at 1850 RPMs but only put out 58CFM, but supposedly have high static pressure.

Yes I know about SP fans that is why I opted for the Corsairs HP /SP120's mine are good mine are 3.1mm H2O CFM 62.74

Anyway i'm about to break down this beast and take the 620 back also I am going to point out fry's has that same khuler for 20 dollars cheaper

I wish we had a Fry's near us. Last time I checked, the closest one to me was about 250 miles. Kind of makes any savings you get away, for me.

Would they be OK to re-purpose for the water kit I plan to get in a couple of months' time? It will be a 240-360mm unit, as my HAF-X is rated up to that radiator size, and I could use the extra cooling given our high ambients.

I have a HAF X with a 360mm in the top, so it indeed will work. But depending on which rad you choose, you may not be able to run push/pull. I can't, but my rad is 64mm thick too. Another consideration is how many fins per inch (FPI) the rad is. The fewer FPI it is, the slower the fans can be (quiet). A good basic tut on them was posted by our own Alsisgevat, who seems to me missing in action. There are a lot of people who would be happy to help. The local expert seems to be Bungee. Where are you, Juan? But, those fans seem to be OK, although I've never heard of them.

That's a nice piece of hardware Brian. Take lots of pictures in and out of the case and any results you have to share. That's quickly becoming a hot item, and I think there are a few looking for a 240mm rad.

The Thermaltake Extreme 2.0 is a great 240mm sealed rad system as I own two along with my original Corsair H100 and my new favorite but challenge to fit many case NZXT Kraken X60. The 2.0 has that thicker rad then almost all other sealed. The X60 is just a bigger surface for cooling with a more standard rad thickness but that also makes the fan work less to push or pull air through it.

No offense taken I just letting you know I have SP fans

Ended up with a H80I oh joy I spent almost the whole day after a 920 I just gave up and went corsair

They said it couldn't be done, HA! Of course it overheats and shuts down on IBT at standard, but no BSOD. I also removed the GPU card and using the HD4600 built in, 6 FPS on Furmark.

Nice one Gary, so can we put it down to bad ram or bad ram settings for the problem you had before then? I recall it not being able to boot at much over 4GHz right?

Paul I think it's more lack of knowledge with the Z87 platform and the multitude of new settings. I also threw some Vcore at it with a + offset of 0.160-0.200 to see what would happen and voila! Now where did I put my LN2 cooler... Also maybe running without a GPU card and I am using some 2133 RAM from my SB rig.
