What's surprising about the whole situation is that someone else was suckered into nvidia chipsets lol, we are chumps for it, my Mobo doesn't even support basic S.M.A.R.T. functionality, and never will

I so agree! And guess who just got suckered again today?? ME! I actually had a guy email me about a PC I have forsale, he just wanted the motherboard and processor from it, I told him I wouldn't strip a good working machine but that I had another brand new motherboard and apu that id sell him,,, and take off money for any parts he traded,, well I got a world of parts from him, nice guy gave me more than I deserved, plus cash!! And guess what one part is a 780i SLI board! Hahaha!

IF your drive is not actually bad sounds like you should just upgrade but back up what you can to anything you can if your windows back up is on the same drive somehow,,,

680I Heatsink and fan fits the same as the 780i just the one tube that goes up by the CPU is different, 680i just had a separate heat sink there with no tube. But mounting holes are the same, 680i uses plastic springed push pins and 780i uses screws! either way they can be swapped out for eachother

aaaaand my HDD died this morning, I'm getting an SSD tomorrow, it's only a 120GB but it'll be enough for now.

Okie dokie, quick update, I'm back up and running on the SSD, runs so much faster than the mechanical, why didn't I get one sooner, also, EVGA are sending me out a new fan at the low, low price of £7.94 or 10 Euro(shipping cost), which is good news, this old box of dust is still going strong despite it's 6 year life.
