After new updates end this January will we still have access to the old updates in case our systems go down and we have to reinstall WIN 7/MSE/Office 2010 from the original disks? In other words, can we bring old WIN 7 OS,MSE & Office 2010 to 1/14/2020 level past that date if something subsequently goes wrong with any of them thereafter?

Not completely sure, as it ultimately depends on wat Microsoft does with their servers, but presumably, YES, we could still download all existing updates.

In the past, when XP support ended, the already distributed updates were still available for download, and even to this day, they still are. So I find safe to assume that Win7 updates will be available even after end of support.

Of course, the absolute safest choice would be to simply download them all right now and save them for future installs. As with any other software, backing up the installer is an important part of a backup plan.

Could I D/L them all together without installing them into my existing OS? Maybe put them on a DVD.

As Alejandro85 says, all the XP updates up to end of support are still available (plus a few new critical updates, one as recent as this year). There's every likelyhood the same will apply to Win7.

I have mentioned this before in a few threads.

The best thing to do [just a quick brief list] is . . .

[1] After the January update is released and installed, make a system image [or two] of the OS as it is then.

[2] If possible, make sure that you have the installation media [DVD/USB/ISO] for the version and bit-type of the Windows that you have a Product Key for. If you haven't got any of these then download a Win 7 SP1 ISO for the version and bit-type of the Windows that you have a Product Key for.

[3] If you haven't got your Product Key there are ways to retrieve or backup your Product Key.

[4] Download ALL the WU's [whether Security-Only or Monthly Rollup] to a folder and also keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD.

[5] Download ALL the drivers relevant to your OS [BIOS, Motherboard, Chipset, Video Adapter, Network Interface Card (NIC), Audio Adapter, Wireless Network Card or LAN Adapter, Touchpad, Mice, Keyboard, Bluetooth, USB drivers etc, and any other hardware device drivers not listed] to a folder and also keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD.

[6] Download and keep the SIMPLIX update pack to a folder and also keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD.

[7] Download the .NET Framework versions that you already have installed to a folder and also keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD. See My BATCH PROGRAMS [Standalone] in my footer to obtain a list of the .NET Framework versions that you currently have installed.

[8] A registry backup might also be useful.

[9] Download the programs [.exe] you can't do without to a folder and also keep a copy of that folder on an external HDD.

etc etc etc, I think you get the general idea.

NOTE: If you are a more experienced user, then you might even consider a clean or repair install!

I wonder how many people will recommend downgrading to Win 10, which is NOT what this thread is about!

The members here seem quite happy with Win 7 and wish to continue using it past the deadline, and why shouldn't they!

I hope this helps!

nearly all XP & Win7 updates made available thru the MS Update Catalog site will continue to exist beyond their EOL dates.
but those XP updates that used to be posted in the MS download center will not (example is the KB2264107 update - the Win7 version of KB2264107 is still there at the MS download center but the XP 32bit version of KB2264107 is not there and produces a 404 error message when clicking on that link)
