One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You
may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended
that you continue.

That appeared when I was starting up my computer, right after I made partitions and formatted them using the Win 7 DVD.

Why did this happen? And how can I fix it?

Open an elevated command prompt and type "chkntfs /x E:". Replace "E" with what ever partitions are being checked. Do one partition at a time.

EDIT: note, this advice it for keeping checkdisk from running on a drive that has been marked dirty, when the drive is known to be working correctly. Some times an unexpected power outage or similar event can cause it, when there is nothing wrong with the hard drive itself.

Follow Petey's suggestion...

Perhaps when you formatted the drive(s), the formatting could have been incomplete or have encountered errors during the process. Windows was trying to recover or repair those problems by running the consistancy check. By the look of the log, a number of repairs were made to the file system by the check. Running another chkdsk would be good to do.
CHKDSK /R would be the syntax I'd use.

I'm getting the same problem. "One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency...lots more words...press any key within 1 second(s)"......and it sticks.

Pressing a key doesn't do any good, letting it go doesn't do any good, it just stops counting with 1 second. Reboot, I get the same thing, unplug power and reboot, same thing, threaten to throw it out the window and reboot, get teh same thing

How do I fix this? I'm kind of a Noob and don't really understand much more than how to plug in a SATA drive. Which by the way I did do. My old HP pavillion died, I took the old hard drive and put it in tne new PC and moved my data. Lots of permission issues but finally got it all moved over. Been working for 2 weeks now all of a sudden this issue.
