Online storage for images

Hey guys can anyone suggest me best way for storing images online to free my HDD to specify my region is INDIA . Pls do specify the site accessible in my region

With my own testing, pictures have not deducted from my 25 GBs.

Completely different purposes. Skydrive is for storage, Zenfolio is for display purposes. Do you just need to store images for later retrieval or do you need/want them to be displayed in a pretty layout for you and others to see at any given time?

Skydrive does both, storage and display in a pretty layout for images.

Right, but one is able to display your images and one is an online hosting solution specifically made for presenting image albums and photography portfolios with a lot of other options built in for displaying, selling, and printing. Sure, you could use either to store and display images, but each are built for different intentions.

Basically, I wanted something to share our photos with a small group of people...as in our family. I normally host them on our WHS box at home, but that goes over our internet connection. I wanted something faster, more responsive, and yet serves as a backup as well. If I host my photos online, and keep a local copy at home, I'm protected.

Sounds like skydrive is your best bet. You'd be paying for all the features Zenfolio provides that you don't need. Zenfolio is a pretty good bang for the buck, though, if you do need the added publishing and selling features.

The one thing missing from most of these cloud solutions is "direct access" to my content.

I haven't looked at the very latest crop but on sky drive, can I place a photo and then get direct access to it via a url as in "www.skydrive.com/acct=87234987792/pictures/sierras/MonoLake1.jpg" And that access is /directly/ to the file? Not through a bunch of wrapped html?

I would love a storage site for my photos, but I maintain my own web site (with limited storage) and am not giving that up, but would love a place to put my images. 99% of the drop sites do NOT allow this though because they would then be feeding content to other sites (of course I would want to prevent this for sites other than my own) and not making any revenue on the content... :/

Most hosting packages now offer unlimited storage. I have several sites with 1and1 and I had toyed around with just hosting my files there. I chose a Linux hosting package, so I can browse the directories through a web browser, and use a direct link to the files, such as Business website needed? Create a small business website with 1&1.

Two things to keep in mind. First is your internet connection speed. If you have many gigibytes of data it could take several hours, if not days, to upload everything. Second is whether or not your internet service provider has a cap on how much you can up/download per day or week or month before getting hit with severe monetary penalties.
