I forgot to mention that I installed WDO on a usb via an uninfected computer. I'm not sure what I should do next. Could someone please clarify?
Yes, "real life" takes up a lot of mind power! By the time I get away from it all I'm usually too exhausted to face this task.

Thank you so much for running that ESET tool. It helps me know when to suggest it and when not to.

For WDO, reboot the computer having the issue and see if it will boot using the mini OS that is now on that USB stick. If the computer just boots into Windows like it normally does, then you can restart again and go into BIOS to change the device boot order so that the computer will boot to the USB stick.

If you don't feel comfortable messing with BIOS settings, the tap F9 or F10 or F11 or F12 maybe the DEL key (different vendors use different keys) during the reboot to get to the boot menu - select the USB deice from that menu.

This is very old and your BIOS and boot menu will not look like this:

But around the 1 minute mark, the boot menu is shown.

So I booted from the USB, but surprisingly not much could be done since it needed a connection to update and tackle whatever the scan results were! I performed a quick scan. After it was done, all I got was a message saying something about a lack of a connection to the internet. Another option was to update, which I tried. Got an error relating to a lack of an internet connection. Strange...

WDO has given us some good info. You now have a second opinion (from a second operating system) that connectivity to the internet is limited. There is something that we do not know/understand about your network.


I'll see if others know what to try next.

I looked around a bit on this problem and apparently there is a registry setting that can have an effect.

Go Start > type in the search box "regedit" (without the quotes), then hit Enter. This will bring up your registry editor.

Then you just follow the directory and drill down to the location.


Go into this location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

Look for Proxy Enable key, if the value is set to 0x0000000(1), right-click it, Modify and put in 0.

The other one that says ProxyServer which is 5 below the one that's already renamed as OLDProxyserverOLD, try renaming that one as well.

Run RK again click on [Delete] then [Fix Proxy] and upload the log .

Here. I attached 3 reports. One of them was the result of me clicking "fix proxy" earlier, before I sent you the first file. Another is the one I just did, after hitting delete (fix proxy was no longer a clickable option). The third one just appeared in the folder as I was typing this.

Right-click the program and select: Extract to tdsskiller\


A TDSSKiller folder is found on your Desktop.
Open the folder, and double-click the TDSSKiller application.


When the TDSSKiller console opens, click on: Change Parameters
Under Additional Options, place a check in the box next to: Detect TDLFS File System
Click: OK


Press: Start Scan


If a suspicious object is detected, the default action is Skip, leave it as is, and click on: Continue
If malicious objects are found, they show in the Scan results.
Ensure Cure (the default) is selected, then click: Continue > Reboot now, to finish the cleaning process.
(Note: If Cure is not available, select Skip, >>Do not select: Delete<<)


When done, the tool outputs its log to the disk with the Windows Operating System, normally C:\


Logs have a name like:
C:\TDSSKiller.X.X.X_12.04.2013_15.31.43_log.txt


Please post the TDSSKiller log in your reply.

I'm not even sure I have an active firewall at the moment. Windows Firewall is all I find. That and Microsoft Security Essentials. IE and Chrome are already "allowed programs" through Windows Firewall..
