It's strange that reports say I have it installed because even Revo Uninstaller Pro search engine shows no results tied to McAfee input, or any variations.

Thanks UsernameIssues. I will end up doing a clean re-installation if we can't get this going by the time the next term of school starts. It would be nice to know the problem though!
VistaKing, I have successfully used the uninstaller and rebooted the computer. IE and Steam still refuse to find a connection, and I uninstalled Chrome out of curiosity the other day...

When you go to command prompt

To open command prompt . Click on the rb: start button type in command prompt and press [enter]

Inside command prompt type in ping google.com and press [enter] . How many Packets were sent received and lost ?

That's the strange part, 4 packets sent, 4 received.

Type inetcpl.cpl inside

and then press [ENTER]
The Internet Options dialog box appears.
Click the Advanced tab.
Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.
When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.

See if Internet Explorer could connect to the net .

From a command prompt...
nslookup google.com
...press enter and let us know what you see. I think that this was failing several pages back via an automated tool; I just don't recall if we ever ran the test manually.

I did reset internet explorer settings, but it still doesn't connect. When I try to connect to a wesbite, the title of the tab (after the website fails to load) is ieframe.dll. what's that about?

Thanks for the NSLOOKUP info. I'm not finding much info about what to do if Pings work (which seems to require DNS) and NSLOOKUP fails (which is a query to DNS). I just wanted to confirm that what one of the tools VistaKing had you use was doing.

I don't recall ever seeing a DLL name show up in a tab like you show. I doubt it will help, but you can try the various things offered by this tool: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98056-sf-ie-restorator-troubleshooting-general-issues-ie.html

Hello everyone, beautiful summer's day here in Vancouver.
I've had a great morning, undisturbed by the fact that SF IE Restorator did nothing. I tried several of the options, including restoring 64 bit IE to 64 bit Windows 7.
Seems this problem eludes us still...

Lets rerun FRST64.exe

Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

64-Bit Version OS Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 <===== Download Link

Drag the FRST64.exe from the Downloads folder to your Desktop

Right click on FRST64.exe and choose

When the tool opens click Yes on the disclaimer window .

Press Scan button.

FRST will let you know when the scan is complete and has written the FRST.txt to file

   Note

The first time Farbar Recovery Scan Tool is run, it makes also another log Addition.txt

Please upload both logs in your reply.(FRST.txt and Addition.txt)

Click on the Go Advanced button under the Message box . Scroll down to Additional Options then click on Manage Attachments in the Attach Files sections . Click the Browse button locate the file then click on the Open button . In the Upload File from your Computer section click on the Upload button . Launch FRST64.exe again click on the [FIX] button . Once its complete it will create a new log called Fixlog.txt upload the log with your reply .
