It's been awhile since making changes to a computer.

Ordered a computer ( generic machine) set it up, but whenever I open either IE or FF browser they open in a small page, I click on the the top right square to increase the size. Also, I'm trying to find the Performance Options - the page showing Visual Effects, Advanced, Data Execution Prevention tabs.

It has been quite some time since working on computers and I guess my memory is backing up on me.

And do note there's a difference between Maximized and Full Screen. Full Screen [usually reached by pressing F11] gets rid of extras such as some tool bars, gives more 'real estate' to a program. Maximized or Restore is the middle icon of the 3 in the upper right corner [upper left corner on Mac OS X].

Here's a screen shot from Fx 37.0.2 under Win7/64, which might help:

Cheers,
