All,
I am trying to use open dns. OpenDNS | Internet Navigation And Security

I decided to put the open dns ip's in my router so that when anyone uses my network they will get the open dns ip's instead of my isp dns derver ip's.

All of my pc's (2 xp home, 1 win 7 homeprem) are set up as dhcp clients.

My problem is that the win 7 box is still getting the isp dns ip's. The 2 xp's are getting the new opendns ip's.

Win 7, I have rebooted, disabled adapter/reenabled adapter, disabled ipv6....

Any ideas?

On my windows 7 the dns address I use is the default gateway address if my router I did not set it up that way that is how is set it up for me I also use open dns. To do that you would open the network and sharing center, change adapter settings, select the properties for you adapter, properties for TCP/IP V4 then select the radio button for use the following DNS server and input default gateway for your router.

Tried that and did the opendns test and it said I was still not using opendns. I have filtering on opendns and for example on my xp boxes i cannot goto remington.com but on my win 7 box, I can which means that i was still not using opendns

Have you tried to put the open Dns address in the in the TCP/IP v4 properties for DNS?

stupid question, but did you give it a couple of minutes to update itself? and have you reset the router since changing it, it probably wont help but its always good to check the basics first

I found out something interesting that takes some of the magic out. The xp laptop that was working and posted above as ipconfig output had opendns dns addresses static in its own static dns address. I changed it to get address from dhcp and it stops working then.

So it seems that my router is the culprit. It is configured with opendns dns addresses in it but it dont divvy them out. I followed the instructions on opendns for belkin router and it just dont work

Thanks for yalls support!
