Operating System Not Found, Windows cant find my HDD

Hi Guys,
I know this is a topic that has received quite alot of attention but so far i have tried loads of so called fixes and my problem seems to be unique.
I got the blue screen of death last night with the error message 'KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.
I also got this tech info *** STOP: 0x0000007A (0xFFFFF6FB7DA00018, 0XFFFFFFFFC0000056, I can elaborate on this later if required.
Had blue screen a few times so didnt think anything of it, then today mid way through watching a download on vlc, my PC restarted and gave me 'operating system not found. I restarted and it said the same thing.
My CD rom tray is broken and so to get into it i (or my gf lol) have to take my laptop apart and place the disk in then rebuild, anyway i put my recovery disk in and it wont find my HDD therefore cannot even do a fresh install coz windows has no where to put it.
Tried Dos'ing it, my laptop in dos is giving OMB, which is either a strange name for a hard drive or i have 0 MB :/ cant do anything with it, samsung recovery solution wont start(F4), tried resetting all dos settings, advanced settings(F8) etc but no joy.
Is there anyway to fix this or do i need to look into a new hard drive? Any help will be much appreciated!!!

No, i have tried booting in safe mode (F8) several times, and the only time it worked was when i had the recovery disk in - which meant i booted the recovery disk in safe mode, but still couldnt access anything stored on my HDD

I think you need a new hard disk. Had the same problem a while ago. All the data gone too..

1. A Startup Repair, or
2. A complete clean install.

Hi,
Yeah i have tried startup repair a few times and it tells me that no hard disk was found.

The problem i have is that even if i wanted to (and sort of now conceded to) do a complete clean install, without my HDD responding i cant even do that no? When i satrt up my windows recovery cd, go through the language options etc even if i choose Install Windows 7 (Fresh), i cant point windows to install it anywhere so it subsequently fails and im back to scratching my head
If i cant format my hard drive in dos and cant do it in windows is that basically the end of the road? I thought you needed to literally drill a hole thorugh a HDD to truly destroy it?

Yes, when i enter bios with the hard drive in it shows 0MB, when i take it out it is blank so my laptop can find it

I had the exact same problem, the hard drive was recognized from the bios but it was physically damaged and I had to replace it.

Hi,

Are u using laptop or desktop?
If its a desktop, i recommend to change the cables.
For example, if its a SATA, replace with new SATA. If its a IDE, try to replace with new IDE. Because you said u couldn't find any hard disk when u entered into bios. So, i think this would help u.

Sorry if i'm wrong.

Else, try changing boot priority of your devices....
