Each month, I receive a document by snail mail that I need to scan and produce a file I can search for certain words.

I have found a multitude of OCR programs on the web but can't tell from the descriptions if any of them will do what I want.

Will someone here please recommend a simple, preferably free or cheap, program/procedure I can use to do this? I would prefer a Win7 one but in a pinch could use a Win 10 one.

Thank you very much.

Didn't your scanner come with an OCR feature?

If not, see if you can find a free version of ABBYY Finereader or OmniPage OCR.

Both work pretty good.
