Option "windows 7" is not available in Compatibility mode list

Hi
Im trying to install Solid Works on Win 7 64 bits.
I need to Change compatibility mode to Windows 7 , but seems there is no such option in the list of compatibility modes.
I went to My Computer > Properties , The Windows is 7 Ultimate 64 Bits . but Why there s no Windows 7 option in the Compatibility mode?
Thanks for further helps
MJ:)

Hello mjapple and welcome to Seven Forums.

Compatibility Mode allows an older program written for an earlier version of Windows to possibly run in Windows 7.

In other words, if you had Solid Works previously installed on a Windows XP computer, you could use the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode to change 7 to XP. But another issue may not be solved with Compatibility Mode. If your version of Solid Works was written for a 32-bit system, it may not work on a 64-bit platform.

You could also contact Solid Works (either their Support link or the Community forum) for additional help.

There is no Windows 7 option because you are running Windows 7.

64 bit operating systems do not have an automatic ability to run 32 bit applications but must provide an artificial 32 bit environment for them. That is the compatibility mode you are seeking.

The artificial 32 bit environment is as close to a real 32 bit OS as can be contrived. This is very complex. Most 32 bit applications run with no problems, which is a good thing because there are vast numbers of 32 bit applications out there that will never be updated. But there are minor unavoidable differences that do cause problems for some applications. There is no further compatibility mode that could get around this.
