Organizing and comparing files? especially pictures

I used to have vista and when I was choosing between a set of pictures I would temporarily rearrange them so I could see them all and compare. Now I can't rearrange them anymore to do this, is there another way?

It's getting on my nerves and in a way it feels like some fingers have been chopped off.

For the ability to do some free sorting, take a look at this tutorial for some help: Windows Explorer Auto Arrange - Disable - You can disable Auto Arrange in all folders except Libraries.
