hello wise ones, I have a small problem which is vexing me, and I cannot resolve it.

I use Outlook 2007 and have it installed on two accounts on this computer - Administrative and my pawz account. Recently I played around with the fonts on the pawz account as my eyesight is not so good, so now everything is bolded (I would change it back if I remembered how, but I do not really believe that is the problem). The other thing that has changed, and I also think is a red herring, is that I now have a 24" wide monitor.I downloaded eM as well and used that for a while, because I wanted a darker screen - too much white looking at Outlook on the new monitor. I don't see how any of these recent changes could affect Outlook.

The problem is that the icons for the folders in Outlook have changed from what they should look like to images you would see in Windows 95 or the old Outlook Express format - they are still displaying as folders and everything works, but it isn't how it should be. If I go to the Admin account and run Outlook there, everything is as it should be and the icons are correctly pictured.

I have tried deleting the icon cache, running the diagnostics that comes with Outlook and uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office, but the problem is not solved. I downloaded Shellexview and its sister program but could not see any missing icons there , nothing to 'associate'- but did notice there were not any for Outlook being displayed in the menuview. I also did sfc and uninstalled eM - nothing has resolved the issue, and although I can still use Outlook as normal it really grates.. any ideas please?

Something has changed your user account. Is your Admin Account the same as your User Account?, in other words is it an exact copy. If so you could just go into User Accounts from Control Panel & change your Admin Account,to a User Account by selecting Change your Account type & then change the tick when it opens. You could then set up a new Admin Account.

hello Ranger, thank you for your suggestion. The Admin account is the Admin account that comes with the operating system, it is not one I created. I do not normally use it but put Outlook in there just to see how it would look. What puzzles me is that there is only one copy of MS Office installed, yet it displays properly in there and not properly in my user account. I thought I would try scanpst.exe this morning, but it complains that a .dll is missing - though it isn't. I will try raising another user account from the control panel and reinstalling in that profile - but quite what will change I do not see since it is only ever one install to C that is being accessed - but I will give it a go, just to see, and if it works. Thank you

hello again Ranger, I have created a new account in Control Panel, and Outlook displays properly in that (hooray!), but now I want to delete the old account as clearly something is awry, but not lose all my files tied to that name. Is there an easy way to transfer or must I do it manually?Grateful for your suggestions. I do remember something about corrupted profiles and how to fix them from way back, but seem to recall that was not a simple task....

have created a new profile and renamed old one, which I will keep for now just in case it has something I need - but all is fine now so I will mark as solved, and thank you for pointing me in the right direction :)
