I run Outlook 2010 on Win 7 Ultimate x64. From time to time I get this error message:

Task '[email protected]' - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The message cannot be saved to your IMAP e-mail account Sent Items folder, because Outlook is offline or the e-mail server doesn’t allow items to be saved to the Sent Items folder.'

I don't have an IMAP account. I have two POP accounts (off the same domain) and a hotmail.ca account, which all get send-received by Outlook simultaneously.

When I get this error message, my email gets sent but no copy gets put in my sent items folder.

Any thoughts?

Double-check your account settings to make sure you don't have it set as an IMAP account.

Also, 0x800CCC0F is "The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact the server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)." Check your timeouts and that you can actually ping the mail server. (open a command prompt and type "cmd your.mailserver.com").

Thanks, Jonathan. No, I have the accounts set as POP accounts. This error is intermittent, so I'm guessing that my mail server sometimes times out and sometimes doesn't. Why my Outlook interprets that as an IMAP issue, I don't know.

Would you recommend that I contact my email account administrator in order to get their assistance? (They're really a domain administrator, but my domain is parked and I just use it to host email addresses.)

My guess is the error template is for IMAP accounts because the error is probably more common with IMAP.

Either way, I would contact them and see if there are any specific settings that you are missing. It doesn't seem to be a timeout issue, but a loss of connection mid-transfer which may be more ping time-related.
