Panda Cloud Anyone?

Have any of you tried Panda Cloud Antivirus? I am trying it out now and think I have gained a little speed back by using less resources. Just wondered if anyone has had any good or bad results with this. Thanks,

Used it a long time ago so not much info. Current favorites include MSE.

Think you are confused, you must have tried Panda AV in the past. The cloud version is new...so I don't think you used it a long time ago.

I also like MSE. What I like about both of these is ease of use. Panda doesn't have a scheduler though. If real time catches things as they come in, you would think that there is no need to ever scan. I know, I know.... I can dream

From what I have seen of Panda I would not use it. The cloud version I havent tried but "cloud" AV dosent really seem like a good idea.

One can define "long time ago" as short as a few months.

One criticism some have leveled at it is you need to be connected to the internet for it to be effective since it relies on the cloud for sigs, etc. This is being addressed in an upcoming version (currently in beta test) that will include an offline (local) cache of definitions. I think it's a good choice amongst the free products, but I would keep MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware handy no matter what AV I used.

Cloud Antivirus eliminates known malware immediately on detection. Files that aren't known malware but seem to be malicious get sent to the cloud for analysis. Until the results come back, they're not allowed to launch. According to Panda Senior Research Advisor Pedro Bustamante, the company receives about 55,000 such files per day. Their automated systems can handle 99 percent of them; human researchers analyze the rest. As for the cloud database itself, it's measured in terabyte—size is no problem when you don't have to fit it on personal computers.

I just checked out PC mags Reviews and those guys at PC mag have absolutly no idea what they are doing.
Some of those reviews havent been updated in 6 years. They are reviewing what pays the best. The more money the higher the rateing. I mean reallly Norton internet security 2008 is #4 on the list of best products???

MSE can be used side by with avast!... possible this can be used along side as well... try it and find out and post back... then you can test Panda Cloud to see if it picks up something that MSE doesn't... GL

The potential problem is malware finds a way on to your system, takes it offline and now your cloud based product is blind. That's why it's necessary to have the ability to scan effectively offline. If the AV doesn't have it then you need to supplement.

You beat me to it. Cloud protection may not be a bad idea in addition software installed on your machine but if you are taken offline???????

Not sure what you mean by not updating their reviews. Is it necessary for them to go back to the 2008 review of Norton Internet Security and say something like "two years have passed folks and what we said about NIS 2008 no longer applies"...? Don't we already know that? Reviews are only relevant at the time and in the context in which they're written.

Your statement that the reviews are biased by money is simply wrong IMHO. I've read the security software reviews for years and while I don't always agree with them I don't see the advertisers getting a free pass. I find it more useful to discuss the details of specific reviews instead of writing off the whole web site.

I have used Panda Cloud anti virus and was very satisfied. The only problem is that it doesn't have some basic settings that every AV should have.

The main problem I had with Panda is that i couldn't find a way to add exclusions list etc. that makes thing very annoying because the software I work for always used have issue with Panda AV Cloud and Registration. Mostly it breaks the online registrations. Only way I used to get around is remove Panda AV and then register the program. Seems like it blocks all the TCP Port that most of the programs use to register.

Thanks for clearing that up, Victek. I didn't think about malware taking me off line. Makes perfect sense to me now. I'm still running Panda on my wireless laptop at home, but I'm back to MSE on my main pc. Panda Cloud did find one thing. It turned out to be Real Player trying to run scheduler or something.
