Password change required for login

I have an HP Pavilion I've used for years. About 6 months ago my c: drive died and was replaced in a repair shop. Now I have a 1tb wd 7200 hd. I have windows 7 home premium with two user accounts set up which were always password logon. But I never was required to change my password after a length of time. Since this hd was replaced I am required to change my password it seems like every 4 weeks or so. I have been doing it for some time as I had other things on other computers to work on. Now I wish to resolve this issue. But I find nothing which will clear this problem. As I said there are two user accounts, my wife's has never had any issue of requiring a password change, only my account.
