Password secured files not secure on selecting file

I have a password protected Excel spreadsheet. However, when I go to select it from the directory, the secure file displays in the preview pane. Of course, I could turn off the preview, but anyone who would get access to my PC could turn it on and see the file in the preview pane. What good is it to have the option of password protecting a file, if the OS will display it anyway? :sarc:

Unattended computers which stay logged in are vulnerable,
Your user login is really your only built in protection and Not having another user with an administrator account,
Doc protection is really only for changes to the doc/ spreadsheet.... viewing is another story,
Which most people use utilities like 7-zip to password zip folders.
But ultimately logging out of your account is your best alternative or require login after a certain amount of time of inactivity.
