Robin if you highlight any update there will be an info pane on the right with links, click them and you can see what MS says about it. MS doesn't speak in normal English though.

I know that part and how to see what they are for, I do not understand what Microsoft means, their explanation at the website

I'm quite sure it's deliberate on Microsoft's part. Their job must be impossible even with most people not understanding what the updates are about, think what the effect would be if everyone fully comprehended them!

when I click 'More info' on KB2871997 it reads different than Pass-The-Hash & reading thru the whole thing it says for 'consumers it's Optional but it came in my list as Security update. :huh:
