Greetings!
Windows 7 freezes (unresponsive mouse/keyboard or failed startup) 5-10 times every morning when I start up the PC or after an extended period in sleep mode. I have had 2-3 instances of BSOD accompanying the freeze. Freezes occassionally happen while watching a video or playing a web game, which is accompanied by a continuous clicking or beeping sound while mouse/keyboard becomes unresponsive.

These issues began roughly around 9/25/2012 after a fairly extensive Windows 7 automated update. nVidia 3-D viewer autoinstalled around that time as well. I have also had some issues with the graphics card heating up and shutting down while plaing 'Legend of Grimrock', which, according to their forums, has an ineffective frame rate limiter.

attached is the SF diagnostic compress file. I sincerely appreciate any advice!

Welcome

One blue screen was caused by iaStor.sys - Intel Rapid Storage. Uninstall this stuff and its drivers completely or update to the latest.
Uninstall from Device manager first. Then delete remnants of their driver using Driver Sweeper

Did you check for latest drivers for your NVIDIA card? Uninstall from control panel then delete drivers using driver sweeper and update to the latest.

Greetings KoolKat!
Thanks very much for helping me with this. I updated the nVidia drivers, per your recommendation, and installed CPUID HWMonitor to check the graphics card temperature and fan speed.
Now, regarding iaStor.sys: I did not find Intel Rapid Storage in Control Panel>Programs and Features. However, I did find Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I wasn’t sure if your suggestion pertains to Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I did follow some online searches that recommended that I update the Intel Chipset drivers (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) following their automated driver update search. I did this without any apparent problems.
Finally, I removed all startup programs that are apparently unnecessary, and ran ccCleaner. I also used Driver Fusion to remove older nVidia PhysX drivers.
The result of all of this is definitely promising: I am down to one freeze per start-up from power off or sleep mode. Is that the best I can hope for? Or is there something else I can try to eliminate the freeze?
Thanks again,
This has been a very educational process for me, and this forum has really helped.
