PC freezes when dvd is inserted

Hi,
My PC often freezes when i insert a DVD-RW in the drive
and only returns to normal when i take out the disk
please help me overcome this problem

Does the light on the DVD come on as if it is trying to run the disk? If so, try running a virus scan to make sure that is not the problem.

1. Is your DELL a desktop or laptop?

2. How old is it?

3. Is it still under warranty?

4. When did this freezing start?

5. Do you remember any software installed recently that could be connected to this event?

At the moment the prognosis is not good but I may reverse my thoughts depending upon your reply.
