PC freezing randomly and rarely

Hi!

After second time it froze, I'm getting angry. It was the second time it crashed in that way within two weeks.

I have no idea what it does. I just browse with Google Chrome 17, and I was writing a comment on Youtube. And it froze. I had to hard reset, because nothing worked.

In the background I ran: Steam, HD Sentinel, Sizer, Gadwin Printscreen, WLM, Plus! Service, Team Viewer service.

My CPU usage was around 1-5%.

After hard resetting, Windows didn't show the "System recovered from a serious crash" message, also it started normally.

Last time, when my PC froze, I also browsed the internet, and I was listening to music. Same kind of crash, mouse didn't work, keyboard didn't work-->hard reset.

Sometimes I run Unity3D, 3ds max, or games, but I didn't experienced the problem during those activities.

I'm not even sure, it is caused by a software.

Please follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html to provide us with more information regarding the freezes. I know you do not have a blue screen crash, but those reports can also help with freeze problems.

For freezes, we recommend a few things:

• Check hardware temperatures:
  
  Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.​
  • Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
  • Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
  • HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
  
  
• Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).
  
  If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
  1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
  2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
  3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
  4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.
  Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

• Try a different keyboard and/or mouse as these can cause these problems if one is faulting.
  
  
• Also, check all hardware and make sure everything is properly seated inside the system. Avoid Static Damage to Your PC while checking hardware.
  
  
• Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html
  
  
• Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

I did some test, include Memtest86+, and there was no errors (I did long night tests). I had 3 more freezes since I wrote the post. Temperatures are all OK, even if I stress test my PC.

Grounding is OK. I did't change mouse / keyboard, I don't know it can be a problem, but my ALT GR+B doesn't work. I have a Genius I don't know what type of keyboard. My mouse is also a simple 3 button one.

No error with my HDDs, I checked them out. No sector error. No viruses found.
I am suspicious about the OS itself. But I will need to examine a little bit more.

They system file check should determine whether the OS is running as it should. It is only able to determine probably 80-90% of the system's operation status, so even if it comes back with no errors, sometimes the OS is still bad. Typically, the 10-20% error is due to it not checking the true state of the registry, so if the registry is in bad shape, Windows may still not work as expected.

As for your keyboard, I would recommend borrowing one from someone or using another one you might have lying around to test. If there is a short in the keyboard and that is what is causing the key issues, that may cause the computer to lock up.
