Hi,

I have an All-in-one inkjet printer and the PC is recognising the scanner part, but not the printer part. The printer is connected directly to the PC with a USB cable.

When not connected to the PC the device copies documents ok, so I know the printer part should be working.

This has happened since I changed all four cartridges, but as they print ok when not connected to the PC, I don't understand why the PC doesn't see it. It has worked fine for 2 years.

In "Devices and Printers" it shows the Brother DCP-195C but has an exclamation point next to the icon. But when I click Troubleshoot, it checks and then says nothing it wrong.

Any ideas what is wrong please?

OK I'm being told by someone who works with printers to remove the printer, uninstall the software, and reinstall.

Here's my dilemma: I also just bought a color laser printer so I might not need the printer function on the inkjet as much - if at all.

I am concerned that if I uninstall and reinstall the All-in-one that the bit that is working currently - the copier and scanner - will also stop working. Is that likely to happen, or am I being a wuss?

thanks

Not likely to happen. Go for it. SOP on that recommendation.

I would urge you to contact Brother tech support if that doesn't work. They are dying to keep their shrinking market share as is.
