TuneUp Utilities 2012

So what you all think about this software on WINDOWS 7 all versions.
Is it worth installing.Won't it hurt the registry or any other kind of weak point in win7?

Hi.

Windows 7 does not need any "external" tune up help.

Windows 7 is not xp.

Windows 7 is smart and is "tidy up" everything by itself.

Tuneup software in most cases they dont tuneup they mess up the system.

We had many members with bsod after using "tuneup" programs.

I hope that i was clear ;)

Actually Im not fully agreeing with you. of course and indeed win 7 doesn't need any tune up unless you know how to clean and keep it tidy as you use it. its obvious even win 7 is left with some junk here and there when long use. I personally use Tune up for basic cleaning and perfomance functions like program deactivator(this can be also achieved via services and msconfig utility)...etc and stlyling windows. I am using the latest version and so far it works pretty good. Its one of my first software installing after a new Windows installation.

I know this thread is old but I'll just throw my 2cents in.
Most of the machines I service still use XP but more and more are coming in with 7.
It's amazing how many have these utilities installed and in many instances, multiple utilities..like four different ones on the same PC. I think it's a placebo effect and seems to make some people feel they are 'optimizing' their PC to its very best as you may tune up a car for instance.
Some also believe that these utilities keep viruses at bay.
Before making any changes I always consult with the customer and explain what needs to be done, without over complicating the issue.
Afik, MSCONFIG, Ultimate Windows Tweaker and some manual tweaks/settings can achieve what you need without clogging the system with questionable programs.
On the other hand, some insist outright that these programs are 'vital necessities'.
Fair enough.

TuneUp Utilities during the Windows 98/ME/XP days was a good utility to have, it actually did what it was advertised to do, with todays OS's with mose of the features of TuneUp Utilities already built into the OS it's really is not needed and besides TuneUp Utilities these days is nothing short of bloatware and will do more harm to your computer than good.

I stopped using it mostly after switching from XP to Vista, it gave my system more errors than I care to remember, tried it once on Windows 7 and wound up with BSOD after running it, I just trashed the program after that, I would not recommend the program to anyone runnning Vista and above.
