Pdf and microsoft word folders disappeared

I tried to find some folders and files a few days ago, and found that the folders had completely disappeared from my computer. I thought that perhaps I had accidentally deleted them, so I used recuvar to try and retieve them but they were nowhere to be seen. I am sure that I didn't delete them, and if I had they would have shown up on the recuver deep scan, but they didn't. I then thought they could have been deleted by a virus, but when I did a scan I only found a tracking cookie- that's the only things I found.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way of getting back files that seem to have just disappeared?

Have you checked under Libraries>Documents>My Documents and/or Public Documents?

Are they in the Recycle Bin?

Failing that, you could try a system restore to a point before you think you deleted them.

Hi, they are not in the recycle bin. I did a system restore, but that didn't retrieve the lost files.

In that case, if Recuva didn't find them, I don't know what else to suggest.

With a bit of luck, someone else may have other ideas.

Have they become Hidden files?

Or perhaps you accidentally dragged them somewhere.
