I totally messed up my user permissions as I keep getting an 'Access Denied System 5 error" at a command prompt. In my stupidity, I just started changing all the 'user/mycomputer' permissions thru UAC - when I started this, of course, I was asked do I want to continue - I said 'YES' and proceeded to click away - then I started running into the 'Access denied' and something about 'inconsistencies' and how I could mess things up. I just want to get it back to the original state (when I bought computer). My question is- I have several different discs - a Factory default backup(s), a Windows 7 System Repair disc and a Drivers & Apps backup all from when I originally bought computer - which(if and) will 'fix' permissions or will none of these discs help? and if none, what are my alternatives? OR could I just be lucky enough to take one of my last backups and restore that ? Thanks
Lorelei

Hi Lorelei,
Your best bet is 1 of your back-ups, prior to your problem, as it will have all of your personnel data on it.,

next best is system restore.

ok - am I understanding correctly that just using one of my most recent backups and do a restore should make permissions back to before I started changing everything and I won't run into any access denied or 'inconsistency' errors?
