I fitted a spare 500GB HDD in a Windows-7 Pro 64-bit machine (machine AA). It's called drive F:/

I filled it with photos across the network from an XP machine (machine BB).

I had full access to \\AA\F for a few days from \\BB.

Later I had reason to put the UAC up to full and then back down again. Now I cannot access \\AA\F from the \\BB machine. It's access denied and asks for a password. There are no passwords involved on either machine for any purpose.

All other shares on \\AA remain fully accessible from \\BB, and \\AA\F is accessible from within \\AA without any password nonsense, it's just this one drive F:\ from the XP machine. Everything works the other way round (Win-7 to XP)l.

I have tried everything I can think of by way of permissions, but cannot fix it.

Any ideas please?

The sharing permissions settings via the Sharing tab will work provided that you either add the Everyone share to the access list from the Security tab or add the appropriate permissions to the Everyone share if you already have "Everyone" showing up on the access permissions list.

You can do this from the main Users folder at F:>Users folder, or go into the Security tab at the root of the drive letter if you require access to system files. The link below explains more. :)
