Picture Quality on 32" HD TV.

I currently have a monitor and a 32 inch HD TV attached to my PC.

I use the monitor for all of my day to day activities, but when I try to view my desktop on my TV in 1080i HD thepicture quality is really poor.

Is this because my video card is not very powerfull, so it therefore doen't have the ability to make a good picture on my TV, and can this problem be recitfied by purchasing a much better video card.

The 4350 is capable of 2560x1600 I do not know what you are setting your TV at but 1920x1200 is certainly obtainable by the card. What is the TV model and hpw are you connected to the PC? I'm wondering if there is a setting in the TV that may need to be set.

I have got 1600x900 on my monitor, Imade a custom resolution for that.

My TV is a Sony Bravia, and it is connected via a HDMI cable.

What is seems to be is the picture just isn't very crisp, the letters seem to be blurredon the TV set.


The TV is being set at 1080i with 30 Hz.

the native resolution is 1080i

1080i is only a native resolution on a CRT HDTV, an LCD HDTV would be 1920x1080P or 1366x768P.

If you have an LCD HDTV that is not 1080P, then it can accept a 1080i signal but down scales it to 1366x768.

Post the model number of your TV, this way we can help you out with accurate information.

I dont know what the model number is and Icant get it, so if you couldbe so kind as to post both possible solutions then I will try to see which one works best.

I agree with what what Zepher posted 1920x1080 or 1366x768 I believe your custom resolution is you problem, the TV and GPU might display it but they aren't very happy about it.

Some older Sony's wouldn't accept anything higher than 1024 x 768 pixels. Your manual will not only have the model#, but will show what resolutions it will accept through HDMI. Check the lower front of your set. Many Sony sets have the model# there.

It happens with me the picture goes all flickery in windows borders and everything goes very tiny
when set resolution to 1920-1080 at desktop
but when you start up a game its fine at that resolution.
Ive even tried hooking it up to a brand new 40" 1080p LG but still it looks crap when set to 1920-1080 in windows (both times using hdmi cable),until you start a game up everything goes crystal clear

i used a vga cable to hook mine to my 47"
displays very nice, but a bit uncentered
1920*1080
then tried dvi<->hdmi cable
same resolution and not better
tv can handle 240hz
pc can't display over 60 cause of analog cables/adaptors
will have to try with a real DVI-D dual link to HDMI cable

and on your 32 inch i wouldn't go over 720p lol...or set it to 1600*900
should look better
