I have read this tutorial but its does not seem to help me much.

What I would like to do is pin my download folder to my task bar as well as the explorer button. But every time i try to drag it, or right click and select pin to task bar nothing happens. When I hover over the explorer icon it gives me the option to unpin the folder, but it never shows up on its own.

what am I doing wrong? or can it even be done?

You are right. Seems to me it is not possible to place a second explorer icon in the taskbar.

Quick and dirty solution:
  1. Go to windows folder
  2. Make a copy of explorer.exe, name it e.g. explorer2.exe
  3. Make a link to this file on desktop
  4. Open properties of this link and add path to your desired folder; e.g. c:\windows\explorer2.exe c:\user\[user name]\Downloads
  5. (If you like: Open properties of this link and change icon)
  6. Pin this link to taskbar
  7. (If you like: Delete link on desktop)

Okay, so I got to step 4 okay. But once I change the target to the folder I want, I cant pin to task bar anymore because its not a .exe

So I was thinking that if I was to edit explorer2.exe in the way that this tutorial shows I should be able to get it to work... Problem is that I dont know how to change the example to point to the proper explorer2.exe and how to change the target to my download folder. Here are my targets:

C:\Explorer2.exe
C:\Users\Se7en\Downloads

Problem is that I dont know how to change the example to point to the proper explorer2.exe and how to change the target to my download folder. Here are my targets:

C:\Explorer2.exe
C:\Users\Se7en\Downloads
Put it in one line:
C:\Explorer2.exe C:\Users\Se7en\Downloads
or
C:\windows\Explorer2.exe C:\Users\Se7en\Downloads

Okay. the copy of explorer.exe is named explorer2.exe
Location:
C:\Windows\explorer2.exe

I have used the syntax
%SystemRoot%\explorer2.exe /n,::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}

and the new shortcut takes me to my documents folder. So how would I find out what the syntax should be for my downloads folder?
C:\Users\Se7en\Downloads
