Solved pinned taskbar icon always hovered .

This is the issue of my friends computer.

The specs there is Intel motherboard, ATI Raedon graphics card, 4 GB ram. After some updates including windows and ATI, the issue appeared that the taskbar icons are always hovered, but even for a running window, the thumbnail previews are not being shown. The situation is exactly like as shown here ... 2009-09-15_2316 - JohnSheehan's library

A system restore can fix it, or a repair install. I want to know what is causing it there.

Any ideas please ?

I'm not really understanding. Is the complaint that the taskbar won't hide?

Hello Archie,

There are a number of tweaks out on the net that could have been used to disable the taskbar thumbnail previews. You might see if you may be able to use the tutorial below to enable them again.

It looks like some sort of time delay setting for how long the opened icons stay highlighted is set to long. Most likely another feature in the program that was used to disable the taskbar thumbnail previews.

Got the previews back, and the pinned icons are also looking normal now.

That's great news Archie. What turned out to be the cause?

Thumbnail previews were somehow turned off. As I dont use the default aero, but soft7 as my default theme, I was not very familiar with the hover/click behavior of default aero theme. Seeing those two together, I thought it is something a big issue. When SFC found nothing, and no virus etc also found, I was a bit nervous
