plan to upgrade and could use some help with components

I would like to upgrade my intel i5 4670k with this Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Refresh Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K - Newegg.com - Newegg.com but, not sure if it would be compatible with my Asus Z87A motherboard. I know they have the same socket but was wondering if I would get the full benefits of the 4790k or not such as the hyper threading etc. I plan to upgrade to an Antec 1200 case but could also use some advice on a PCIE 3 graphics card to replace my PCIE 2 His 4850 card with about a $300.00 price limit. Also, will my GSKILL Sniper memory be compatible with the new processor? Thanks for all help!

Yes, that board will support the new cpu, you will need to update the bios for the new gen cpu. It will also work with a PCIE 3 GPU. The ram should be fine

I am still reading around, and seeing conflicting info on if it will support the new CPU. I would contact ASUS to verify that the have a BIOS that will support it.

I have been updating and have the latest bios as of this time but, I will make sure they are compatible before I purchase. Thanks!

Sounds good, I would hate for you to purchase it, and it didn't work. That should be a great upgrade, post some pics over at the show us your rig thread. We have quite a few ASUS users here, one should chime in and offer some advice soon.

I'd read up on Asus' website to confirm, but as far as I know the Haswell refresh CPU's will work in a Z87 motherboard with the updated BIOS for the new chips. As for the graphics card upgrade we need a little more information. Do you game @ 1080p resolution, single monitor, dual monitors? Hardcore gamer, or more casual? For 1080p gaming, it's hard to beat the Nvidia GTX 760.......with that said, Nvidia is about to release their 900 series of cards this month so you may benefit from waiting a couple of weeks.

My only other piece of advice is the case......for the same money, you could get a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe. I currently have an Antec 1100 and had a 900 before that and I can say that I will never buy another Antec case. There is nothing wrong with this case, but Antec is about 10 years behind in their case designs and features. Back in the day they used to be up there with the best of the best, but the last few years they have refused to evolve like other case manufacturers have. The Enthoo Luxe in MY opinion is probably one of the best cases out there, and certainly the best case for the money.
