Did you use a DVD-R, or some other DVD disk. An External drive would be much easier. Also, invest in Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost as soon as possible.

If you have WD or Seagate HD's you can download from their Support Downloads webpage a free premium Acronis cloning/imaging app which has more flexibility than the Windows app.
Others recommended here are free Macrium Reflect and Paragon 11, which also offer a few more options if you need them.
