I have been there yes, but unfortunately when i plug in the 4th stick of RAM, I cant even get to windows so the hardware monitor etc. dont really help. My drivers are up to date, so im not sure what the issue is.

Hi all,

I am new here and ran into the exact same issue as thread starter. I have 4 sticks of 2gb Kingston ram 667 all the exact same model etc. I can stick 3 sticks or 3 x 2gb + 1 x 1gb stick for a total of 7gb ram but when i try to stick 4 sticks of 2gb the computer will hang at the windows start up screen. Exactly the same as thread starter.

I have tried every bios setting including the limit 3gb ram setting but nothing works..

I know 1gb extra won't make any difference but i am just itching to find out what is wrong and why.

My mainboard is a Gigabyte P35-DS4 rev 1.0 with the latest BIOS and am running a Quad Q6600. Right now my system is rock stable with 3x 2GB Kingston 667 + 1x 1GB Kingston 667.

Maybe Windows 7 doesn't like the ram to be at the number 8 eh? Weird...
