Please help desctop icons are all itunes

Hello everyone. I have a problem and was wondering if and one could help me. A while ago i did something i have no idea what it is nad how i got to it so please dont bother asking what it was I did. What it has done is change heaps of programs and thing to itunes format so almost everything on my desctop (and programs taht arnt on my desctop) have been turned in to itunes but they still have the same name just a differnat icon and when i try opening it it opens itunes, so i cant get heaps of thing open. (it does not affect folders, notepad...) also when i download somethint new like a game when the shortcut pops up on the desctop it is itunes. I have tryed deleting the icons cache which I did sucsessfuly but it didnt do anything. Please Help!

or you can try SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker and restart.

Try Arcs suggestion System Restore will probably do the trick.

Have you tried SFC scan ? What is the result?

Have another look, open regedit, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command, and make it sure that the default key value is set to be "%1"%* , like this one...



EDIT : SFC Will not erase anything, but system restore may erase some stuff.

A System Restore will also uninstall programs and drivers that were installed after the date of the selected restore point.

After expanding HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, select the first one under it, hit the "e" key on your keyboadr, it will bring you on the top of the entries beginning with e. Then scroll down.
