Hi folks,

I looked on Google only to find a massive amount of links to online converters but I would like a program to do it locally. Anyone have any suggestions on a nice app for the job. :)

Hi Seth,

I use a program called "Format Factory". It can convert pictures, audio, and video. It's free and quite user-friendly. It can convert .png images to .ico.

You can drag and drop your images into the programs' open window and it will prompt you to select your output image format. Once you have selected click the "start" button and presto!

Pity it's not a .bmp then you just rename it to .ico.

Just an added method

If you right click on a .png file, and select Edit, it will open in Paint. Just go to the file menu and select "Save as" BMP and save it. After saving, change it's name to whatever.ico.
