My Dell studio one developed a glitch recently. A single cell from a pop-down menu freezes on the screen until i manually shut down the dwm.exe process using task manager. The source of the pop-down cell could be any program and anywhere on the screen. I have tried to reinstall the operating system as an upgrade but i get a message that the system on the computer is newer and as a result the attempted upgrade is cancelled.
Any suggestions as to how I mighr repair this problem?

I found this solution on the web and it worked!
Go to Start menu
Right-click on Computer
Choose “Properties”
click “Advanced system settings”
In the Performance section, click the “Settings” button
In the “Visual Effects” tab de-select the option for "Fade out menu items after clicking.
