Got FF7 and modded it, came out pretty good. I can only take screens in windowed mode for some reason though, and that cuts out a couple of features like bloom lighting and such, so it actually looks a little better than it does in these shots.

Tifa's Bootleg, the program I used to Mod FF7 is sweet. Especially if you pick up the torrent. It's got all the compatible mods included [fair warning it's 17gb] and you can switch them out. This includes some difficulty mods and a couple of conversion and gameplay mods besides the texture replacements as well. I'll probably end up playing through it a couple of times because of how easy it is to mod with that program.

Well the best version will be 1.0.4.0 no dont use EFLC cuz it comes natively 1.0.7.0 so tell me about your iv whats its patch ? without you adding any patch to it and modding the whole game is easy and makes no problems to the game but the problem is here about the cars, see when the file of all the cars [vehicles.img] gets modded you will have a bug called taxi bug(u will see only taxi cars) so to fix this u will have to use a mod called real traffic and this mod will make problems (missing texters) but for me i have all the cars modded and i do use the traffic mod fix but i get around 3-5% of slow texters loading nothing really that messes up the game and thats due to some settings and what i have in my commandline.txt and ofc this game works fine with me and works beautifully based on my own settings:
1-game settings: includes alot of settings
2-my video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 1.5GB)
3-my available ram
4-all windows updates are installed
so if u want to mod your iv that wont be a problem but if u want to fully mod it with cars ill help u do that but it will all be based on my settings and no one has found or made a fix for this missing texters the best modded IV game that runs fully modded is what u see here with my IV so....

I've got it working well with 1.0.7.0. I've also modded EFLC successfully with no problems and it looks great.

I've done some more modding since the above shots and it looks really good and plays smoothly. These shots are from Lost and Damned again and you can see the difference from the above shots.

You do need a mod to fix the taxi bug. I use the 'real traffic taxi texture fix'. Another common problem is the 'red sky' glitch that can be caused by modding sky textures. There's a fix for it, just google 'gta 4 red sky' if you need it.

Also you should be careful with your card. You've only got 1gb of Vram, so be aware that overreaching your card's abilities causes nasty pop in and lag. The settings may say you've got enough room but it doesn't factor in modding, so you may need to turn things down a bit to keep it running smooth even if the resource tally says you've got spare vram.

Don't forget to set up your commandline.txt file in your GTA IV Root folder and make sure these lines are present. It helps a lot with keeping texture pop in and other issues at bay.

-norestrictions

-nomemrestrict [delete the -memrestrict line after adding this if there is one.]

-noprecache

-availablevidmem 2.4 [you'd need to put 1.0 since your card only has 1gb of vram, don't go above 2.4 no matter how much vram your card has.]

-percentvidmem 100

If you need 1.0.4.0 for a particular mod it will say so. I wouldn't worry about rolling back unless you have a specific mod that you really want to use that requires it. Most of the more recent mods are made for the latest patch and most, but not all, will run in either GTA IV or EFLC. I've got it running great on the latest patch with no issues.

Also, make sure you pick up Spark, OpenIV, and either xliveless or IV Asi Loader [you don't need both]. You need these tools to mod.

I know you don't need it, but others should be aware that GTA IV does not like multi-GPU setups and performs better without SLI or Crossfire. If you've got it, turn it off and the game runs much better.

The game looks great modded, and there's tons of cool stuff you can do with it.

Also, be sure to pick up the Simple Trainer for GTA IV. It's got some really cool features. It's more than a cheat tool and you'll need it for some mods. Most trainers are just for cheating, and you can do that with this one, but a lot of mods use it to adjust their settings so you really do want to have it if you're modding the game. Plus, there's a Gravity Gun programmed into it, and that is all kinds of fun in GTA.

All right, thnx for the help guys, um think ill just mod everything else besides the cars. Don't care much about the cars. I'm more into changing like the city textures and guns, I might do the cars but idk the default cars are ok unless there's some pack that textures the default cars. Probably will try patch 4 first and see how that goes, easy to install the orginal gta iv since i got a retail copy of that own but my eflc is a steam copy so I rather not change that one so will test with my cd copy of gta iv.

There are several packs that retexture all the cars, and some of them include several new cars. The cars are easy to mod so I recommend it.

Honestly, if I had to do each car individually I wouldn't have bothered. I'm using Evolved Car Pack V3. It looks good, turns all the cars in the game into better looking real world counterparts, adjusts handling, and also retextures some of the other vehicles as well, like the helicopters and boats. It also adds a few new cars to the mix.

It was a breeze to install, and the taxi bug fix is just a small file.

It's totally worth the effort to mod the cars as it's really not much of an effort at all.

ENB looks great, but it's also hard on the GPU. There are some that are made for lower end PCs, but if you're having difficulty running a modded game, ENB is what I recommend getting rid of first. If you can run it well with ENB it's totally worth having. However, unless making the game look as good as it can is your first priority, you should dump it first if you're having issues with framerate or pop in.

Just make sure you back up your GTA files before modding anything, just like any other game. You should never mod without making a backup copy of a game. If you do so, you won't have to worry about screwing up if you decide to mod EFLC. If you screw up and break the game, you just erase your screwed up game, and use your backup copy to make another copy to mod again. Always keep an original unmodded version of any game you're modding. It's worth the HDD space, and saves you time and frustration when things go wrong.

Unless you're really tight on HDD space, in which case you should get a high capacity storage of some kind like a USB drive or SD card and copy your original unmodded game as a backup that way. If you don't have the memory space to make a copy, don't bother modding. It's just a bad idea and you're better off waiting until you have some available space or making some by getting rid of files and programs you're not using.

Sometimes you need to verify the integrity of local files if you replace a ruined game, but I've never had to go to any more trouble than that after deleting a folder that was killed by modding and replacing it with a backup copy.
