I think it's a fluke from CoreTemp, look at the CPU it has listed.

Yeah, that is weird. Gary, btw, 72 degrees is a little on the warm side for your OC. I'm at 4.5 with a 1.32volt and I dont get out of the 60's for a 24hr run of Prime95.

I think IBT wrings it out a lot harder and this is a temporary, smaller cooler. I run lower with Prime as well.

So, what do you think about wattage? It passed the whole test. I got a temporary cooler, Hyper TX-3, and its doing better than Intel's, still runs hot though, better cooler on the way.

The ridiculous reading lasted only a few seconds and went to normal, 55-65 range.

No wonder your temps are high.

Steve showed me a coupla months ago. As there documentation says, It will bring any CPU to its knees. If you can pass IBT at least at standard you are likely stable. If you want to fry some burgers, try Maximum, I get up to 82 once.

Having said that, both tests are valid, they stress the CPU in different ways, Prime of course is doing equations. IBT does too but many more thousands per second, I think.

If we just wanted a "PC" - then we would go out and buy a pre-built.

Finally got to 4.8GHz. Not a bad result considering I'm on air...

Load temps increase ~10c from 4.5 to 4.8GHz so I've gone back to 4.5GHz for daily use

If i was able to get more V-core on my machine i would be hitting about a 4.6 but wow that looks pretty good im still happy with mine

prime 95 runs fine but IBT Freezes everything

Guess it's not ment to be ran on my rig in the first place

Might be that your overclock is right on the edge. I usually find a spot that's stable, then crank it down a notch from there.

Ahha, so that's it! I've been finding BSODs and then backing off till they stop.
