I know the basics of the power plans, but where can I go to read about the detailed settings? Example being the Passive and Active feature. My laptop has no fans and would like to educate myself on this. Then there are the different levels of active & passive....

not entirely correct its not fan management

i assume by passive and active your talking about the cpu mangement feature , if you set it to passive it allows intel speedstep to not only lower your multiplier but also lower the voltage to your cpu when its idle , its a power saving feature you enable in your bios (intel speedstep and C1E)

setting the plan to active lets speedstep lower only your multiplier (downclocking your cpu) setting it to passive also allows it to lower the voltage , thus saving valuable battery power when idle

No the setting controls the fans. Passive slows the processor before increasing fan speeds. Active increases fan speeds before slowing down the processor. If you do not have fans the setting will do nothing. The branch the settings are under is title "System cooling policy" under Processor power management.

i just looked into it and your 100% correct , sorry , i was playing with intel speedstep before i started overclocking and unless i had the power plan set to passive it would only lower the multiplier and not the voltage , thats obviously something else it does , i was unaware of the fan thing
