Hello - i HAD a dual boot installed on my computer: XP Pro on the C drive and Windows 7 Pro installed on the Drive E.

I also had EasyBCD 2.1.2 installed on both drives. All was working well, but i didn't back up the Bootloader Settings.

My C drive failed and i restored it from an Image which was made before i created the dual boot, and I was not given a dual boot option, and i cannot boot into Windows 7.

I installed Easy BCD on the C (XP) drive. When i open the program, i get the following message: "The boot configuration data tore could not be opened. The system cannot find the file speciied. Would you like to manually load a BCD registry for EasyBCD to manage? Pleae note that Eay BCD requires the Windows Vista7 bootloader, and will not work in XP-only environments."

There are no entries in the EasyBCD window.

Help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Sheila

There is a simple automatic solution.

Download and install Visual BCD Editor - Windows 7/Vista.
The tool comes with "Dual-boot Repair" tool.
Start it. Click "Automatic Repair". Confirm.

Now your system should boot by default to Windows 7.

In Windows 7 run Visual BCD Editor.
RightClick in treeView and select "Create missing Windows loaders".
No parameters, no partitions or drives to specify !

Now you will have a dual-boot system with Windows 7 and Windows XP.
