Printing from Windows 7 32-bit to Windows Vista 64-bit

I have Windows 7 32-bit on a laptop and Windows Vista 64-bit on a desktop. My HP C5580 Printer is connected to the printer and has the printer shared out. I set everyone to have full security rights to this printer. I have no problems connecting and printing from this printer on my other Vista 32-bit computer or my wife's xp 32-bit laptop.

I tried setting up a network printer through the add printer wizard.

I also tried setting up a printer using a "local port." - Which is how I ended up getting it set up for xp and my vista 32-bit computers.

However, when I set up the network printer on the Windows 7 computer it looks like it is set up correctly, but when I send a print job ... test print or otherwise ... it doesn't get stuck in the que, but it doesn't print on the printer itself at all.

I am not sure what is wrong. No matter how I set up the printer it won't print. The driver I am using is whatever driver Windows loads when I do the printer wizard and when I set it up manually through a local port I am setting it up with the printer driver that windows 7 has on it for my printer.

Anybody have any ideas?

I have successfully printed from 7 x64 on a printer attached to XP. Do you have the most up to date drivers on your vista machine for your printer? When you go to add a printer do you do the following;

Add a network, bluetooth... > click stop, then click the printer I wanted wasn't there, Then hit the browse button and located it manually on your other computer?

I am able to install the printer on the windows 7 machine using both the Add Printer Wizard and by Creating a "local port" that manually points to my printer.

However, after doing either way ... I try and print and nothing comes out. But, the computer acts like it has sent the job to the printer without a problem.

Go into your printer and see if you can manually add a x64 driver to possible print jobs. If windows recognizes it and sends it to the printer, it sounds like the printer is not doing what it should. Just make sure your drivers are the newest available. You could also check your event logger and see what the print spooler is sending out.

The windows 7 32-bit computer obviously needs a 32-bit driver loaded to send a print job to the printer. I guess I could try using a vista driver from HP ... instead of using the c5580 driver that is already loaded on the windows 7 os. idk.

Windows really needs to fix printing. It should just work.
