Hi to you all
I know this is a win7 forum, but I'm asking the question in here as I don't know of any win-XP forums.
I have a Dell Optiplex 760 that I want to install win-XP on to run some older software just for the sake of nostalgia.
I have all the drivers from dell's own website.
My problem is that I only have installation disks and retail product keys for winXP, and winXP sp1, and winXP sp2 disks.
But none of these first three install versions support sata drivers. To install the computer it apparently requires a WinXP SP3 installation disc.
I tried this by using a cracked winXP sp3 install disk and the installation worked fine. But since I am against using pirated software as it can contain both viruses and backdoors and more. So I wonder if it is possible to get around sata driver problem so I can use my XP sp2 license and install disc?
The computer has no floppy on the motherboard and I do not own a usb floppy drive.
I have tried to take my xp sp2 disk and make a bootable usb installation stick to be able to embed the drivers but the installation program does not want to start and I can't point to a usb stick as A: drive
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can get around the problem?
Have a nice day you all.
